Expediting ARC renewal

Postby Just Jennifer » Wed Dec 30, 2015 00:32

Has anyone had any luck having an ARC renewed in fewer than ten working days?

Arc expires mid March but I am in need of a China visa for a trip on Jan 10th.

Can I renew my ARC this early? (A little under 3 months before it expires.)

Thanks in advance.

You can renew early but you won't get a full year (or three years, or whatever) from the date of expiry of the old one. I did this in 2011 because I had to spend four months in India for work. They gave me three years from the date I renewed it, rather than the date the old one expired.

As I recall the renewal doesn't take long though.

Expediting ARC renewal

Thanks, Taffy. Two weeks according to the website. Couldn't find anything online about paying an extra fee to get it sooner.

I did an early renewal in 2013, about 4-5 months early, and they gave me the full 3 years from the expiry of the old one, so I ended up with an ARC that is valid for 3 years and 4 months. Took about a week to get it, but I don't remember there being any options to get it done quicker.

You need to provide a valid reason for the early renewal, I think for anything more than a month in advance, plane ticket reservations should do it.

Thanks, everyone. One more question, is there a representative office here for China? A "mainland affairs" office? Some friends said absolutely not, and that only travel agencies/agents can apply for visas on our behalf here. But our head office finds that hard to believe.

There is a Cross straits office but I don't think they will process a visa, our company uses a travel agent who sends the documents to Hong Kong to process.
