Does anybody need any other reason to turn their backs on heterosexuality?
Me and the man will be living it up in a hotel villa in Taidung next Monday and Tuesday. Admittedly, I didn't plan this. The trip is his Chinese New Year's prize. You can't get more romantic than having a private pool to cavort in!
But, seeing as we aren't all always going to be winning these kinds of holidays, my suggestions:
1. Listen to divea and just overwhelm them with love at home.
2. Go to Beitou and find a hotel where you can rent a private hot spring for a few hours (admittedly, this isn't the season for this).
3. Taroko Gorge impresses some.

My go-to romantic scenario: turn on some wrestling, bring out a bowl of Doritos and a six pack of Cherry Coke. Tissues. Put on some music in the background, softly so as not to distract from the WWE, maybe Pearl Jam or Third Eye Blind. Oh, and a clean shirt. Real important, that one.

A bed and breakfast in an area that you're not familiar with. Check in in the afternoon, explore a little, have a nice dinner (you might want to research a good restaurant ahead of time), go for a walk, get snuggly. 
Next morning, have a nice breakfast, and go do something interesting in the area. See whatever sights are to be seen. Rinse, repeat as necessary.

Well, all the finest luxury might do: at home, in the fancy restaurant, or a trip to the moon and back.
Is the purpose to put love before anything else? Just do what you know your partner likes - even if you dislike it. THAT is the biggest treat you can give.
