Saw the trailer. Cranston is awesome. Fantastic actor. That is the only way he survives this.

She's super hot. I've seen them all and periodically watch them again. There's nothing like watching a super hot Milla kick the crap out of monsters while looking super hot.

Does anyone know when "Arrival" opens in Taiwan? My best guess is January 2017, but I'm just going off of what IMDb says for Hong Kong and Singapore.

I'm with you. Some of the movies sucked but I have watched them all because it was so frigging awesome to see her doing her stuff in the first installment. Milla rocks!

Well, let me know when you find out. The trailer and cast (Amy!) look awesome. This is one I might venture out for.

Perhaps it's too soon to call it an upcoming movie since it hasn't even gone into production yet, but The Irishman may be of interest to some here--what with Scorsese, De Niro, Pacino, Pesci, and Keitel all involved.

I'll risk the teeming masses and watch Alien: Covenant on the big screen.

No release date, but in 2016 Russell Crowe's production company purchased the film rights to Islands of Angry Ghosts, Australian Hugh Edwards' 1966 non-fiction telling of the 1629 Batavia shipwreck off the Australian coast.

I've not read the 1966 version, but Mike Dash's 2002 Batavia's Graveyard: The True Story of the Mad Heretic Who Led History's Bloodiest Mutiny is a great read. It's right up there with Nathaniel Philbrick's great In the Heart of the Sea, a story that Hannibal mentioned in another thread. The Batavia has the bones of a great movie.

The Essex story tells of madness born of desperation and hunger, while the Batavia story is one of a mutineer mad as a hatter.

If you've got some free time coming up, you could do a lot worse than to read either, or both. Ripping sea yarns, the both of 'em.

It's surprising how long it's taken for the Batavia to be made into a movie. Possibly too harrowing?

Given the grisly ending, I guess I'm a little surprised Mel Gibson didn't glom onto it before Crowe. At any rate yes, harrowing indeed.

The guy who led the massacre didn't actually kill anyone himself, did he? Kind of a Charlie Manson on steroids.

Once they washed up then I remember he was a crazy marionettist who directed other crazy people - but I don't remember if he killed anyone himself. I seem to recall that he did commit murder during the mutiny itself, but not positive. Once the Dutch caught up with him, he paid as if he did, I remember that.

Edit: dang, now I'm going to have to reread the book.
